Toran Making Activity (Pre-School)

The festival of Diwali commemorates several events in the Hindu religion. To celebrate this festival people illuminate their houses with diyas and doors with torans to welcome Goddess Lakshmi.
Children, alike adults have good time on Diwali as they eagerly wait for sweets and new clothes. We at M.P.S tried to keep up the festive spirit by encouraging and involving little tiny tots to make torans on 13 October 2011(Thursday). Mirrors, peepal leaf printing were used to make Lord Ganesha's face and decorating the rest of toran with glitters and decorative material and definitely their own imagination. This activity enhance their fine motor skills and social skills. It makes them aware about the importance of the festival and its celebration.
