Spell Bee Competition

The importance of spellings in English language was realized by the students of class II and III  through a Spell Bee Competition held on 26-12-12, Wednesday. Wherein the students answered various questions related to spellings in a worksheet. The exercise comprised of interesting words including commonly misspelled words. Overall they learnt the spellings of words in an interesting way.

Helper's Day was celebrated by the students of Pre School on 14-12-12 i.e Friday with the theme as 'People in My Town'. Students depicted various helpers like- Milkman, Doctor, Shopkeeper, Vendor, Hairstylist, Actor, Teacher etc. They dressed themselves as Helpers and spoke lines on the same. By this activity they identified various Helpers and realized their importance in daily routine. Students confidently participated and were very eager to see their friends performance.

Quality Circle


" Notebook mirror students personality"
Students often take their notebooks for granted and do not take care of them. To emphasize on the 'importance of notebooks in their life', the quality circle presentation on 'Notebook maintenance' was conducted by the learners of class III on 10 December 2012 (Monday) in the school premises. The topic was very much relevant. The key idea of this presentation was that the habits inculcated in the formative years of these young learners, retain for longer time. Madam Principal also took great interest in sharing her views with the learners. She also motivated them to compete for best maintained notebooks award. Their active participation exhibited how effective the presentation was.

To give a way to the energy of tiny tots, Group Dance Competition was organised for the students of Pre School on 08-12-12 i.e. Saturday. Students enjoyed dancing on the times of their favourite songs numbers like Vengaboys , Crazy Frog and Happy Feet. Their beautiful attires looked lovely as they danced and expressed themselves. The competition was not only a dose of enjoyment for everyone but also helped in improving the co-ordination of their body.

Solo Dance Competition


"Dance is the expression of one's feelings and emotions"
This statement was truly suitable for the Solo Dance Competition "Count the Beats" of class II held on 05-12-12, Wednesday in the school premises. The little dancing stars tapped their feet to the tunes of various dance numbers like Maiya Yashoda, Hum Kaale Hain, Lavani and many more. To keep the spirit of their friends, the audience also sang the songs. Such competitions are a stepping stones in one's life and also help them to shed off their inhibitions if any.

Solo Dance Competition


'Dance is the expression of the soul'
Whether is it an adult or a child, everyone enjoys dancing. Moreover, in this world of stress, dance proves to be a great stress buster. To break the monotony of regular studies an inter-class Solo Dance Competition was organised for the learners of class III on  03-12-12 (Monday) in the school premises. The participants danced to their heart's content. The audience also had a lot of fun, and everybody could be seen tapping the feet and humming the tones played during the programme. The morning of 27-11-12 started on a very melodious note in M.P.S, Shalimar Bagh as 'Expressions' English Rhyme Competition of class I was held in the school premises. The theme of the competition was Environment and Seasons. The students confidently recited their poems. They were dressed very nicely with innovative costumes and were excited to know the results. The competition also helped the students to get measures to save environment.

Gurudwara Visit


To celebrate the auspicious occasion of Gurupurab, students of class I visited Shalimar Bagh Gurudwara on 26-11-12, Monday. They offered their prayer. They took a Parikrama around the Holy book Shri Guru Granth Sahib, relished the Karah Prasad and had lot of fun.

Arty Attire


Arty Attire activity was organised for the students of Pre School on 26-11-12 (Monday). All students dressed up themselves as Animals, Birds & Bugs and spoke lines and recited poem on the same. This activity helped in building up confidence, cherish the movement of enjoyment and enhance the knowledge about different Animals, Birds & Bugs like cat, lion, tiger, cow, butterfly, honeybee, cockroach etc. It was a gala time for all the students of  Pre School as they enjoyed while learning.

Children's Day Celebration


A fun filled Children's Day Colouring Competition was organised for the Nursery Department on 09-11-12 in the school premises. The activity was conducted in an open area wherein all the students sat together and coloured the sheets using their imagination and creative sense. They were extremely happy and enjoyed the activity a lot. Their colouring showcased their innocence and share enjoyment of celebrating their own day i.e. Children's Day.

CD's Decoration


Festivals add happiness all round. With diyas, candle and lights Diwali is always bright. The festival of light was celebrated with great enthusiasm by the students of Pre School on 09-11-12. They decorated diyas using scrap CD's  paper flowers, mirrors, glitters and added their creativity to it.
A beautiful stick puppet was given as a token of love on the auspicious occasion of Diwali. Diwali celebration lit up little hearts who were really happy to be a part of it.

KRITI- The Art & Craft Exhibition


There was colour, there was music & most importantly there were young excited faces of students ready to display their best side in "KRITI" , Art & Craft Exhibition which was held in the school premises by the Nursery Department on 3rd Nov' 12. The "Kriti" is the concoction of five themes depicted by classes Pre School to III. Class Pre School depicted the theme 'Ojaswani' portraying Deepawali Celebrations in an eco friendly way with beautiful Ganesha sheets decoration, gift boxes, bags, cards, thali, diya & candle decoration. Class Pre Primary with their theme as "Christmas Galleria” depicting Church, Masks, Paper folding, Snowman & Birth of Christ. Class I with their theme as "Eco Friendly Warriors" depicting disposable crafty items decorated beautifully by the students in the form of various figures. Class II with the theme as "The Wonderland of Masks & Puppets" showcasing creative, captivating masks & puppets, puppet show, waste made craft, cakes & cookie puppets and class III with their theme as "Arty Soul" depicting brown paper bags decorated elegantly i.e. brown magic, origami scenes, origami pond & zoo. In this way, the tiny tots were able to capture the attention of the audience i.e. the Parents & the teachers with their art extravaganza with extremely nice art pieces. All the themes presented by students exuded so much confidence & grace that their was hardly any doubt in the mind of onlookers that these promising young artists would be successful & confident men and women in the field of their choice.

Reliving Ramayana


Dussehra depicts the victory of "Good over evil" and the same was learnt by the students of Pre School and Pre Primary as they came dressed up as Lord Rama, Laxmana, Sita, Hanuman, Ravana, Kumbhkaran etc on 23-10-12, Tuesday and enacted different scenes from Ramayana such as Swayamvarh of Lord Rama, Lord Rama's Vanvas with Laxmana and Sita, Sita Haran by Ravana, Yudh between Rama and Ravana Sena and final killing of Ravana. Students performed to their best and depicted Ramlila with lots of gest and fervour activity of decorating Hanumanji's gadda added more fun to the day.

Let's Act Like


Let's Act Like Activity of class I was organised in the school premises on 11-10-12. Students came dressed up as Mythological, Political  Historical, Scientists and spokes lines suitable to their character with expressions. They were also excited, enthusiastic, confident and enjoyed the activity to the fullest.

Kiddies Kitchenette Activity


Imaginative play makes kids think as well as discover new things. Keeping this in mind, Kiddies Kitchenette activity was conducted by the class Pre Primary on 11-10-12. Students watched the things and gadgets used in the kitchen with great amazement. With this, they learnt the names of objects used in the kitchen. It was a learning yet fun filled activity.

Tree Plantation



Feeling of gratitude towards Mother Earth was being shared by the students of Pre Primary on 08-10-12 (Monday) as a Tree Plantation Activity. Students were explained to be grateful and respectful towards Mother Earth. The Motta "Let's be friends with our Earth and environment" and slogan 'Go Green' was followed religiously by the students. They wore white cap with the slogan ' Go Green' imprinted on it and planted rose saplings with their small hands. It was great work done by tiny hands which enriched them with the fact that they have contributed towards beautifying the nature.

Texture Printing


To enhance the students awareness regarding the importance of Environment, Texture printing was organised for the students of Pre School on 05-10-12 (Friday). The students enjoyed imprinting texture with sponge on a white colour T-shirt and learnt the meaning of slogan 'Go Green' imprinted on it. Hence, the real motto of the activity i.e awareness of keeping the environment clean and green was understood by the little learners in an enjoyable way.

Gandhi Jayanti


“That education is worthwhile by which character is formed, the intellect is expanded and by which we can stand on one’s own feet.”
Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated by the Nursery Department in the true spirit on 1-09-12 i.e. Monday in the school premises. Students of classes Pre School and Pre Primary participate in various activities like making Gandhiji’s Spectacles, Stick Puppet of Charkha, Colouring, Sketching in Gandhiji’s Picture and the best of all was the Dandi March in which they wore white Dhoti/ Pyjama , kurta and spoke slogans about Gandhiji’s life. Class I, II and III were also not lagging behind as they displayed their best side in activities like Role Play, Quiz, Poster Making, Pocket Watch Activity, Picture Composition, Cleanliness Drive, Poem Recitation and Incidents Narration on Gandhiji’s life and Shrumdaan believing in doing work by own. PowerPoint Presentation was also shown related to the same. Hereby, good thoughts were taught in an interesting way.

Students brought Monacco biscuits, cheese slice, ketchup, bhujiya and decorated the biscuits very beautifully, resulting in the habit of working independently.

Mass participation in the competition encouraged the feelings of co-operation and also brought out the hidden talents of the students.

Visit to Bal Bhavan


Students of class I visited The National Bal Bhavan on 22-09-12 (Saturday). They attended workshops on handicrafts, weaving, painting, clay modelling and enjoyed learning amongst their friends following a different routine. The experience proved to be an enriching one as the workshops were informative.

Visit to Rajghat


A man who won freedom for our Indians through non violence, what an irony that he himself was shot dead. Did he deserve that? No certainly not. To sensitize the young learners of class III, an educational trip to Rajghat, was organized on 22-09-12 (Saturday). Students paid homage to the Father of the Nation. It was surely a memorable experience for everyone.

It is said that if the students get an opportunity to observe the environment they live in, it helps them to view History in its proper perspective. Especially for the students of Primary classes, seeing is more important than listening. Keeping the same in mind, an excursion to Gandhi Smriti was organized by the school for the students of class II on 15-09-12. Students were easily able to know and understand about Gandhiji and his simple way of living. So, the experience provided an opportunity for the students to visualize and observe directly and get first hand information of the rich Indian Heritage.

An area of excitement was built up when students of Pre Primary had their English Poem Recitation Competition on 13-09-12 Thursday. Participants exuberated confidence and versatality and audience were equally supportive and cheerful. Melody of nature was the chosen topic. Participants looked vibrant in their costumes and the poems like save water, love nature, fruits and vegetables, love animals etc were just apt for the topic. Our Nursery Incharge Mrs. Roma Jacob graced the ocassion with her presence. She motivated all students to be the part of the competitions. Visit to the temple


"To inculcate the feeling of spirituality and meditation" a visit to the temple was organized for the students of Pre School. Students visited the temple of Goddess Durga on 13-09-12 Thursday. They bowed and prayed in the temple with all respect and devotion. Teachers taught students the importance of respecting God by offering prayers. They all enjoyed eating prasad given to them.

Dental Check-up



“Fine teeth make one laugh and

Dental check-up was organized for the students of Pre School on 12-09-12 Wednesday by Dr. Nidhi Chhabra and Dr. Pooja.
The importance of teeth and proper way of brushing teeth was also explained. Preventive measures to avoid cavities, bleed gums and bad breath, plaque were the main issue of discussion.
This pleasant experience helped the students learnt many ways to prevent oral problem.

English Rhyme Competition



To boost up the confidence of tiny tots, English Rhyme Competition was organized for the students of Pre School in school premises on 11-09-12, Tuesday. The outlook of the stage area was done in the form of jungle as the themes of the rhymes were animals. Students recited rhymes on the topics- Animal world, I love Pussy, At the zoo and raised some serious concern about animal’s like- Save tigers. The tiny tots looked amazing in the character of different animals, which was appreciated by one and all.

Visit to Salaam Baalak Trust


Sharing is the best way to show that you care. This was beautifully showcased in the month of August. Wherein sharing gave way to a very pious feeling of donation. Children of class I donated soap to needy and poor children of Salaam Baalak trust, Tis Hazari New Delhi. Children could empthatize with the feelings of these children and realised that doing little things for others can actually make a difference.

International Friendship Day

In order to make the students understand the meaning of friendship, International Friendship Day was celebrated by the students of Pre Primary on 24-08-12 Friday. The children marched a rally within the school premises by carrying beautiful, colourful and meaningful placards on which slogans related to friendship were written. The message of slogans was given vocally also. Through this activity, they learnt the value of friendship which in simple words means sharing, caring and concern for each other.

 " La Frutta Ela Verdura " Fruits and Vegetable Day was celebrated by the Pre School students on 17.08.12 Friday with great zeal. Students came dressed as different fruits and vegetables and spoke about the goodness of the same. A little chef from Pre School also served delicious fruit chat and shake to their peer group. Scrumptious dishes prepared with different yummy and healthy fruits and vegetables were shown and benefits of eating the same were explained. Students had an enjoyable time eating and learning about the goodness of fruits and vegetables.

Independence Day Celebration



14th August 2012 was the day when Modern Public School was full of patriotic fervors. The occasion was 65th Independence Day Celebration. The whole school was decorated with Tri colour flags and pictorial presentations of stories of freedom struggle. The Principal Mrs. Alka Kapur hoisted the National flag followed up by exhorting students to work towards building a great, modern India. Class I and II students depicted the importance of freedom for human beings and birds too in the form of a Poem presentation and a skit respectively. The colourful extravaganza was presented in the form of cultural programmes. Students of class III recalled the episodes of freedom struggle and paid glorious tributes to the great leaders of the past in the form of a skit.

Tri Colour Crown

A colourful pageant showcasing Indians cultural diversity, symbolic depictions of the country, joint display of Indians military capabilities by the armed forces are the essential part of Independence Day celebration. Celebrating the same, Pre School students participated in making crown by pasting Tri colour kites depicting their love and affection towards their country.

Flag Decoration Activity


India's Independence Day was celebrated in Modern Public School with loads of enthusiasm and activities on 14th August 2012 in the school premises. Group discussions were held and Flag decoration with paper tearing was organized for the students of Pre Primary.  Students enjoyed the activity and understood the significance of colours of National Flag.

Bajubandh Making Activity


Hare Rama Hare Krishna, the echo of these words can be heard every where, as very soon we all will be celebrating the birth of Lord Krishna. Celebrating  the occasion, the tiny tots of Pre School made Bajubandh on 09.08.12 using peacock feathers, symbolising the lord Krishna. Children enjoyed the activity to their utmost.

Crown Making Activity

On the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami, Crown making activity was done by the students of class Pre Primary on 09.08.12. Students displayed their creativity by decorating the crowns very beautifully with mirrors, glitters and peacock feather. They enjoyed a lot and decorated the crown with lot of interest and enthusiasm. The crowns made by the students looked very attractive and enhanced not only the recognizing skills but motor skills too. It was a fun filled activity enjoyed by all students.



Janmashtami Celebration


Festivals add gaiety to the lives of the little ones
The festival of Janmashtami was celebrated with full glory and enthusiasm by the Nursery Department on 09.08.12 in the school premises. The auspicious occasion was started by lamp lightning ceremony by respected Principal madam Mrs. Alka Kapur followed by offering prayers. The little but lovely students of Pre school captured the attention of everyone with their foot tapping dance number Thumak Thumak Students also dressed themselves as various characters related to Lord Krishna like Radha, Kansa, Sudama, Nand Baba etc and portrayed various scenes like vasudeva in Karavaas , Giriraj Dharan, Solah Kala sampan and Gokul Gaman exceptionally well. The celebration hereby helped the students keeping the knowledge of the festival Janmashtami and culture of their country intact.

Rakhi Celebration

Raksh Bandhan, a festival symbolizing the bond of love was celebrated by Pre-School and Pre-Primary students in a celebration organized by the Nursery department on 01-08-12 wednesday. The golden thread of rakhi epitomizing the bond of love between brother and sister, was taught and shown by live examples to the students. The Festival was celebrated with joy , fervour and was enjoyed by the students to the fullest.

Spoon Puppet


Reinforcing the concept of 'My Self' spoon puppets of boy and girl were made by Pre school toddlers on 31-07-12. Concepts of my self was made more simpler and clear by live examples, which helped in enhancing students knowledge about their likes-dislikes, favourite colour, toys etc. Students enjoyed the activity as they took their spoon puppet home.

Green Salad Making

Green salad making activity was held for class I students on 31-07-12. General tendency of kids to hog on junk food dispense moms who complain of their child not eating nutritious food, have come to their rescue . Salads are highly nutritious food with lots of minerals and vitamins, which include almost all the vegetables in raw forms. Students ate a healthy vegetable salad during the activity done in class, had a lot of fun mixing the veggies together and were excited to try what they made.

Tip- Letting your child help you in the kitchen is a good way to get your child to try new food.

Shabdanjali- Hindi Poem Recitation Competition


Rhymes help in exploring, enjoyment through the process of imagination and creativity.

We live in a multidimensional society. So far the global outlook and comprehensiveness, the students are encouraged to participate in all possible activites. One of them is 'Hindi Poem Recitation Pratiyogita' which was held in the school premises for class II and III on 27.07.12. Students participated well, gave proper actions, expressions and displayed their finer skills. The rhymes like Kude Ki Guhaar, Ab Vriksh Nahi Rahenge, Plastic Se Mat Karna Pyar helped the students in understanding the day to day issues in an entertaining way.

Magic Show

A magic mantra is now on the lips of every student. The reason behind is HT Pace who organized a mesmerizing magic show for the tiny tots of Pre School and Pre Primary on 20.07.12, Friday. Children gazed in surprise as the magician performed his tricks. All eyes were open wide when money came out of child's mouth, seeing straightened rope, magic pots etc. It was pure fun, atmosphere was filled with giggles, laughter and excitement. Magical moments created will now be embellished in the mind and heart of students.

Hindi Hasya Kavita Path


In order to make dull and boring life more interesting and lively a  Hindi Hasya Kavita Path Pratiyogita was organized as an activity for the children of Pre Primary on 17.07.12. The tiny tots were able to tickle everyone's funny bone with their funny poems on Tota Ram, Bacchon Ki Sarkar, Chandamama Ki Sair etc. Their personality and attire matched their poems equally. Hindi Poem Recitation


Hindi Recitation Competition was organized on 16.07.12 for the students of Pre School. They recited poems on various topics like my school, train, my wish etc. The props and their vibrant dresses added colour to their recitation. This platform built their confidence.

Flower Making Activity


Creative works allows a child to give shape to his imaginations. He freely floats in the pool of ideas. Its result is flabbergasted.


The students of class II got a wonderful opportunity to explore their world of creativity on 13.07.12 when they made colourful origami flowers. They decorated each petal of their flower with mirrors and glitters. They even attached ice-cream stick to each flowers. Every flower was different and marvellous in its own way.

ECO-FRIENDLY BAG DECORATION


 

“Let’s be eco-friendly and change the world”

Eco-friendly bag decoration activity was organized for the students of class III on 13.07.12. The students used old newspapers to make useful paper bags. The activity certainly solved its purpose of making students understand the need of recycling waste material in the best possible manner. The learners enjoyed the activity and promised to use only paper bags in the future.

TOY TALK


Mike Presentation ‘Toy talk’ was held on 13.07.12 (Friday) in class I, where the young ones spoke on their favourite toy. This activity helped to boast up their confidence. It also showcased their speaking skills.

Students of Class III visited Gandhi Smriti on 09 May 2012. They watched a movie on Gandhi's Life. They were also shown the martyr's place where he was shot by Nathu Ram. As it was a Educational trip, students gained a lot od knowledge about this great leader.

Card Making Activity (Class II)

As God could not be present everywhere so he created – MOTHER-. The most important person in life of any individual especially in the childhood. She plays different roles for her child as and when the need arises like friend, guide, teacher etc. In order to make them realize the importance of their mother, the Card Making Activity was organized for the students of Class II on 04.05.12 (Friday). They made beautiful cards in which they were able to express their love and gratitude towards their mother. Some of them showed their talent by making lovely and colourful cards which showed their innocent love. The students felt happy when they made cards. They enjoyed this activity thoroughly.

Ice Cream Party (Pre School – Class-I)

To beat the heat of the summer Ice Cream Party was organized for the students of Pre School to class I. Children were waiting for the treat very enthusiastically. They enjoyed the flavor and taste of Ice –Cream with their peer group. Children had a wonderful experience of enjoying Ice Cream specially in the school and with their teachers.

Flower Making Activity( Class – III)

Mother’s are angels sent on Earth by God”, To salute mothers for their unconditional care and affection, a “Paper Plate Flower Making Activity” was organized for the students of Class III on 04 May 2012. The students made beautiful flowers which they gave as a token of love for their mothers. The students truly enjoyed the activity in high spirits.

Melon Treat ( Class-I)

To beat the summer heat Melon Treat was organized for the students of Class I on 3 May 2012 (Thursday). The children brought water melons. The importance of the fruit was emphasized. The students enjoyed the mouth watering refreshing and juicy water melons.

Table Mat Activity (Pre School)

Mat making Activity was organized for the students of Class Pre School on 26 April 2012. Different kinds of shapes were taught through it. It helped to coordinate and improve their thinking skills.

“Eco Nouveu” Interschool Competition (Class III)

To promote the use od eco-friendly things, a fashion show, Ashok Vihar on the topic “Desire Eco Attire”. A team of three students of Class III participated in the competition on 30 April 2012(Monday) and bagged the second prize. Students with their eco- Friendly attire mesmerized the judges. Kinjal Bansal as the show stopper of the team also spoke about their attire. Jute , newspaper and other eco-friendly materials were used to design their costumes. With the increasing danger of global warming, such kind of awareness among school students is essential.

Mother's Day Celebration (Pre School)

Mother’s Day was celebrated on 02 May 2012 (Wednesday) in Pre School. The mothers were given a traditional welcome and presented badges to honour and felicitate them. It was followed by scintillating performance by the tiny toddlers. Thus this day was truly special and memorable for all mothers.

Mother's Day Clebration (Class-I)

Mother's Day was celebrated in Class I on 02 May 2012(Wednesday). Children made flowers with the help of thumb impressions on the cards which looked very beautiful. The techers told them about the relevance of mothers in everyone's life. They were agog with excitement and enthusiastic while doing the activity.
